Programme
Summary:
The
Diploma in Entrepreneurship is
designed to provide entrepreneurs and potential entrepreneurs with critical
information and tools that will assist them in starting up, growing and
maintaining a successful enterprise. Upon completion of this programme, individuals
will display self-management skills and self-directed thinking in identifying
and filling business needs. The
programme is designed specifically for:
- Individuals who
have started an enterprise, regardless of size, and wish to hone their skills
while enhancing and formalising their education in entrepreneurship;
- Individuals who
are seeking to develop creative and innovative approaches to expand an existing
business;
- Individuals who
are unfamiliar with entrepreneurship but who have a passion and an interest in
entering the arena; and
- Individuals who
are engaged in entrepreneurship ancillary services such as bankers,
accountants, lawyers, venture capitalists and trainers.
Participants in this programme will study in Barbados
or online but will have a truly global encounter with entrepreneurship.
Opportunities will exist for participants to participate in the Kelley Direct online
programmes with Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business which will bring
together students from around the globe.
Programme Structure:
TWO (2) COMPULSORY, NOT FOR CREDIT WORKSHOPS
While the course is not for credit and therefore does not offer a grade that
adds to the final qualification, it is compulsory. It provides each individual
with a set of skills that are necessary for them to adequately function as the
programme progresses.
TWO (2) NON-CREDIT COURSES SEVEN (7) COMPULSORY, CREDIT, CORE COURSES Modality: Individuals may choose to
complete the programme via the face-to-face format or the online format.
Entry Requirements: Admission to the Diploma programme is open to
candidates who:
- Have a UWI Certificate in Business
Administration, a Certificate in Public Administration or a two-year diploma
from a recognised institution in a related field.
OR
- An Associate Degree from a recognised
institution.
OR
- At least five O’Levels.
- Persons who do not meet the academic
requirements may be admitted through evaluation of an interview, the
applicant’s academic records, referees’ reports and other aspects of the
applicant’s work history.

- Bds$9,000 (US$4,500).
One text book per course, tuition, examinations (at UWI Centres only) and
other study material.Fees can be paid in full or in
installments. Participants who may have problems adhering to the payment
schedule as outlined should discuss the matter with the Programme Director.
