In 2007, thought leaders from across the globe and regional CEOs, managers and public sector officials converged at the Hilton Barbados for the inaugural Caribbean International Leadership Summit (CILS). With an all star line- up including Jack Welch former CEO of General Electric and Fortune’s Manager of the Century, as well as other household names such as Denis O’Brien, Arthur Lok Jack and Sir Allen Stanford, the summit gave more than 275 participants the opportunity to learn from over 150 years of combined leadership experience spanning a wide cross section of industries.
This year the Cave Hill School of Business, the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business and the Mona School of Business will host the second instalment on November 10 & 11, 2008 at the Hilton Barbados. Launched in an intimate breakfast ceremony at the 3Ws Oval on September 4th, and attended by several business leaders and government officials, this year’s summit is captioned Creativity, Innovation and Global Success.
When asked about the rationale behind this year’s focus Dr. Jeannine Comma, CEO of the Cave Hill School of Business indicated that “ Given the current economic realities, we believe that in order for Caribbean organisations to be successful they need to be creative and innovative in what they do and how the do it”. As a result, the summit will focus on key issues and problems facing both international and regional businesses with a view to inspiring them to employ novel and ingenious ways of securing market dominance and global success.
This year’s line-up boasts a slew of international and regional presenters. Mr. Robert Crandall former CEO of American Airlines will address the topic of Succeeding in Challenging Times. Mr Clyde Fessler former VP of Marketing at the Harley Davidson Motor Company will share his insight on what is involved in Building the Global Brand and Ms. Hiayan Wang founder of the China India Institute will speak on the Quest for Global Dominance. Regional presenters include Dr. Kenny Anthony, former Prime Minister of St. Lucia; Mrs. Ann Gittens, CEO and Publisher of the Nation Publishing Company; Mr. Peter Minshall internationally renowned designer, artist and mas man and others.
