Bridgetown, Barbados, September 2nd, 2011 - In the midst of the current economic crisis affecting the business world, the Cave Hill School of Business - CHSB at the University of the West Indies - UWI (CHSB-UWI) has formed an alumni network, ‘The Cave Hill School of Business Inc. – The University of the West Indies Alumni Network’ (CUAN), aimed towards strengthening the Caribbean’s networking and professional development capacity.  Following the launch of the Alumni Network back in June 2009 and with the subsequent diligent work of an interim executive committee the official executive committee of CUAN was duly elected on Friday 15th April, 2011.

Speaking about the objectives of the new organisation, President Kenneth Hodge explains that among the main priorities for CUAN are the finalisation of a new constitution and charter and the undertaking of a membership drive. As it relates to the membership drive, Mr. Hodge and the executive committee are making an appeal to graduates of the CHSB-UWI globally to join the alumni network and play an active role in its development.

Additionally, the focus of CUAN includes networking, advocacy and fund raising with a particular emphasis on “promoting the Caribbean’s intellectual and cultural development.” He added that the organisation would also serve to promote the CHSB-UWI in an effort to attract and enlist benefactors, gain regional and international recognition and offer advice on matters affecting the welfare of the CHSB-UWI.

The new executive committee of CUAN will hold office for two (2) years. These persons include President Kenneth Hodge (Anguilla), Vice President Raoul Williams (Barbados), Secretary/Treasurer Sharon Kinch (Barbados), Public Relations Officer Selma Green (Barbados), Floor Members Wallace James (Dominica), Deborah Nurse (Guyana) and Anna Lashley (Barbados), CHSB-UWI Ex-Officios Ann Wallace and Marjorie Wharton and UWI Ex-Officio Roseanne Maxwell.
