The Cave Hill School of Business/The University of the West Indies is recognized as a leader in business development and growth in Barbados and the OECS. In addition to its highly regarded MBA programmes and Strategic Training initiatives, CHSB/UWI has made strides in the promotion of entrepreneurial initiatives, in Barbados and the OECS. Through the development of The Centre for Enterprise and Entrepreneurship (CEE), CHSB/UWI encourages and promotes continuous development of innovation. The national representative of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), CHSB/UWI has partnered with organizations such as Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme (YES), Barbados Youth Business Trust (BYBT) and Barbados Industry and (BIDC) to ensure that the entrepreneurial spirit in Barbados does not diminish.
Start with an idea
It is not uncommon for young people to have a dream, vision or idea which they want to turn into a money-making venture. However, finding a channel to develop those dreams and ideas can prove a daunting step for many of those aspiring youth. This challenge to development lies in the fact that many are unaware of how to take the next crucial step, or they may have no one to provide the necessary guidance. The Dare to Dream Business Idea Competition intends to provide a clearer vision for these aspiring young persons.
Use the Dare to Dream Business Idea Competition
The First Citizens Financial group and The Cave Hill School of Business/The University of the West Indies, in association with The Barbados Youth Business Trust (BYBT) have collaborated to present the Dare to Dream Business Idea Competition. This competition enables the participants to share some of their most creative ideas, while being provided with valuable feedback and mentorship from experts in the field of business, entrepreneurship and innovation.
The Dare to Dream Business Idea competition is designed for individuals or groups, ranging in ages from 16 to 21 years. For the purpose of this competition, groups are not expected to exceed four persons. Interested participants can document a business idea which may fall under any of the following four categories – Technology, Culture and Art, Environment and Education. The registration deadline for each participant to ensure entry in the business idea competition is December 15, 2014. All completed entries of the business concept document must be submitted by February 16th, 2015. The eight finalists will be announced on March 23,
2015 and invited to make their presentation to a panel of prominent business persons. The winners of the competition will be announced on April 8, 2015.
Present the best concept document of the proposed idea
The individual or group who presents the best business idea will secure the grand prize of BDS$5000.00. The awards of BDS$3000.00 and BDS$2000.00 will be awarded to the second and third place winners, respectively. Entering this competition is the first step to turning a dream into reality!
