On Tuesday, December 6th, 2016 The Cave Hill School of Business Inc.-The University of the West Indies (CHSB-UWI) was renamed in honour of its major benefactor and long-term staunch strategic supporter, Sagicor Financial Corporation. A ceremony was hosted at the CHSB Conference facility, where the unveiling of Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business and Management, The University of the West Indies was witnessed by more than one hundred key stakeholders as well as local and regional media representatives.
Remarks were delivered by Dr Charmaine Gardner – Chairperson, Board of Directors, CHSB-UWI; Mr Stephen McNamara – Chairman, Board of Directors, Sagicor Financial Corporation Limited Group of Companies; Professor V. Eudine Barriteau – Pro Vice Chancellor and Principal, The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus; and Mr Dodridge Miller – President and Chief Executive Officer, Sagicor Financial Corporation Limited Group of Companies. The aforementioned executive group was joined by The Minster of Industry, International Business and Commerce, Honourable Donville Inniss; Vice Chancellor Sir Hilary Beckles of the University of the West Indies and Dr. Jeannine – CEO and Director of the newly named entity, Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business and Management, to remove the ceremonious curtain which revealed the new signage at the front of the building. The ceremony commenced at 6:00pm and culminated with a cocktail reception.
Sagicor has been a strategic partner of CHSB-UWI for over a decade. The renaming of the business school is a component of the mutually beneficial collaborative agreement, which was signed on July 18th, 2014. During his address, Mr Miller stated,
“We are extremely pleased to be a partner with the Cave Hill School of Business and Management on this important journey, for the long-term development of our region and the people in the communities in which we operate”.
The significant valued derived from the partnership between Sagicor and CHSB-UWI will enhance the school’s capacity for efficient delivery and promotion of programmes which, through advanced technology and a dedicated customer-centered methodology, will improve the CHSB experience for companies and clients of the organization.
