Clarke dared to dream…and he won!

The third annual First Citizens Dare to Dream Business Idea Competition climaxed on Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business and Management (SCHSBM). The competition, launched on January 3, 2017, was conceptualized to encourage young persons between the ages of 16 – 21 years to invigorate a dream or idea through expansion and finally, a presentation. Five finalists showed courage and zest during the final presentation of their innovative business concepts before a panel of judges which consisted of Mr. Corey McClean – Entrepreneur and Creative Director, Sips Smoothie Bar; Mrs. Annie Bertrand – Social Entrepreneur; Mr. Rommel King – Commercial and Consumer Lending, First Citizens Barbados.

By the end of the two-hour session, Victor Clarke was declared the winner of the competition. He claimed the grand prize of BDS$5000. Teyonna Delice-Mayers was the first runner and secured her prize of BDS$3000, while Chad Devonish won BDS$2000 as he earned third place. Shakir Blackett and Glen Reece were the other contestants of the competition. 

Mr. Egbert Irving, Programme Manager SCHSMB, expressed his pleasure at the support provided by First Citizens in making the event possible. Ms. Bertrand also stated that she was impressed by the quality of each presentation and the viability of the ideas presented.
