Finance for Non-Finance Managers

Accounting is one of the most critical languages of business. Therefore every employee in an organization should be able to understand the fundamentals of accounting and to use the information produced by this function to help their organization make the best possible choices. This programme is designed to provide participants with tools to analyse and interpret financial statements so that ultimately they can make better business decisions. 


This programme is designed so that by completion participants will be able to:

  • Construct basic financial reports
  • Utilise various accounting ratios to interpret the information contained in financial reports
  • Differentiate between options facing an organization and identify the one with the greatest return on investment.
  • Utilise accounting tools and information to make better decisions for themselves and their organizations
  • Improve communication with accountants and bankers
  • Analyse Income Statements, Balance Sheets and Statements of Changes in Owners’ Equity and Cash Flows Statements. 


This programme is designed for individuals who make decisions on a daily basis but who have not been trained in the accounting discipline. This can include managers, supervisors, secretar­ies, lawyers, doctors or other professionals who want to improve their ability to interpret and analyse financial statements for better decision making. 


This programme will utilise a participative methodology with practical examples and exercises playing an integral part. Theories and concepts will also be shared and discussed. 


In completing this programme participants will cover several areas including:

  • Financial Statement Analysis (Using Accounting Ratios)
  • Working Capital Management
  • Risk, Return and the Cost of Capital
