The Public Sector is responsible for the functioning of a nation. It manages and controls national and critical services, and thus is the most vital sector of any Government. In this regard, professionals within the public sector field, need to have a thorough understanding of management and policy issues that government and non-profit organisations continuously face, and the impact that public sector services have on the local communities they service. Thus, it is important that public sector management professionals are able to analyse, develop and implement government processes and structures, in addition to effectively presenting and applying policy and administrative decisions.

The Executive Diploma in Management – Public Sector Management (EDM-PSM) is an online 18-month intensive public sector management development programme. The programme is designed to harness and boost the knowledge and skills of participants, enabling them to be effective and efficient within their roles as public sector managers. Through the courses undertaken in the programme, participants are given the opportunity to develop an integrative, action-oriented understanding of the government as a whole, and learn to master the relevant tools and methods for strategic management. The overall goal of the programme, therefore, is to contribute towards enhancing the capacity of the public service to perform at consistently high levels, and to meet the expectations of the nation’s people in matters pertaining to good governance.
