Overview

If you are a beginner and completely new to investing, this Stock Market Investing 101 course is ideal for you. With no prior financial nor investing knowledge necessary, this course is designed to provide you with a comprehensive overview to stock investing.  This course will lay the foundation for the workings of international stock markets.
Participants will learn how to trade stocks, mutual funds and exchange traded funds globally as well as how to master the Caribbean stock markets. Participants will also have access to a fully interactive global trading platform where they will learn how to trade by actually building and managing a portfolio using this global platform (using paper money).

Objectives

On completion of this programme participants will be able to formulate and execute trading strategies to:

  1. Understand the workings of international stock markets;
  2. Learn how to trade stocks, Mutual Funds and Exchange Traded Funds globally;
  3. Master the Caribbean stock markets.

  1. Understanding stocks, bonds, Mutual Funds and Exchange Traded Funds
  2. Types of orders on Stock Exchanges
  3. Technical Analysis and Trading Strategies
  4. International Stock Markets

Meet The Facilitator 

Prof. C. Justin Robinson, a Professor of Corporate Finance,  is a national of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and currently serves as Pro. Vice Chancellor, Board For Undergraduate Studies, University of the West Indies (responsible for academic quality assurance across UWI.  He obtained his PhD in Finance from the University of Manchester, UK.  He also holds an MSc in Finance and Econometrics from Florida International University and a BSc in Management Studies (First Class Honours) from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados.  Prof. Robinson’s research interests are Capital Markets in Developing Countries, Public Finance, Financial Risk Management and Corporate Finance In Developing Countries.  Prof. Robinson currently serves as a Director of the Central Bank of Barbados, and First Vice President of the Barbados Museum and Historical Society.
